Legal
Terms of Service
Please read these terms carefully before using MenuMeat. By accessing or using the platform, you agree to be bound by the conditions set out below.
PLAIN-LANGUAGE SUMMARY
Before the legal language, here is a straightforward summary of the most important points:
MenuMeat is a restaurant menu guide. The content on this platform — menus, dish photos, prices, restaurant names, locations, and customer reviews — is uploaded and managed by users and restaurant owners, not by MenuMeat. We provide the platform. The people and businesses using it provide the content.
Restaurant names, business names, location names, trademarks, and any associated intellectual property belong to their respective owners. MenuMeat makes no claim of ownership over any restaurant name, brand, or geographic identifier listed on the platform.
You are responsible for the content you upload. If you upload a menu, a photo, a review, or any other material to MenuMeat, you are confirming that you have the right to do so and that the content is accurate and does not violate anyone else’s rights.
MenuMeat is available to users aged 13 and older. Users under 18 require parental or guardian consent to use the platform.
The full terms follow below. They govern your use of the platform in detail. If anything is unclear, the Contact page is the right place to ask.
ToS
1. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
1.1 Agreement to Terms By accessing, browsing, or using the MenuMeat website, mobile interface, or any associated services (collectively, the “Platform”), you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”), together with our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
1.2 Changes to Terms MenuMeat reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. When changes are made, the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will be revised. Continued use of the Platform after any modification constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the Platform.
1.3 Additional Policies These Terms apply alongside any additional guidelines, policies, or rules posted on the Platform in connection with specific features or services. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and any additional policy, these Terms govern unless the additional policy explicitly states otherwise.
2. ELIGIBILITY
2.1 Minimum Age MenuMeat is available to users who are 13 years of age or older. By using the Platform, you represent and warrant that you meet this minimum age requirement.
2.2 Users Under 18 If you are under 18 years of age, you may only use MenuMeat with the knowledge and consent of a parent or legal guardian. By using the Platform, you represent that you have obtained such consent. MenuMeat reserves the right to terminate accounts or restrict access where underage use without appropriate consent is identified.
2.3 Authority to Accept If you are using the Platform on behalf of a business, restaurant, or other organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms, and that your acceptance constitutes the entity’s acceptance.
3. THE PLATFORM — NATURE OF SERVICE
3.1 What MenuMeat Provides MenuMeat operates as a restaurant menu discovery and comparison platform. The Platform enables restaurant owners and authorized representatives to create and manage restaurant listing pages, upload menus, add dish descriptions and photographs, and publish business information. The Platform also enables diners and general users to browse restaurant listings, read menus, view dish content, and submit customer reviews.
3.2 User-Generated and User-Uploaded Content The content available on MenuMeat — including but not limited to restaurant menus, dish names, menu prices, food photographs, restaurant descriptions, operating hours, location information, and customer reviews — is uploaded, submitted, and managed by users of the Platform, including restaurant owners, their authorized representatives, and members of the dining community.
MenuMeat does not independently create, verify for completeness, or guarantee the accuracy of user-uploaded content. The Platform provides the infrastructure for content to be published and accessed. Responsibility for the accuracy, currency, and legality of uploaded content rests with the user who submitted it.
3.3 No Endorsement The presence of any restaurant, dish, menu item, or business on MenuMeat does not constitute an endorsement, recommendation, or guarantee by MenuMeat. Listings reflect information provided by users and restaurant operators. MenuMeat makes no representation as to the quality, safety, suitability, or availability of any restaurant or food item listed on the Platform.
3.4 Platform Availability MenuMeat does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access to the Platform. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, technical issues, or circumstances beyond our control. MenuMeat is not liable for any loss or inconvenience resulting from Platform downtime or unavailability.
4. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY — RESTAURANT NAMES, BRANDS, AND LOCATIONS
4.1 Ownership of Restaurant Names and Brands All restaurant names, business names, brand names, logos, trademarks, service marks, and trade dress displayed on MenuMeat are the property of their respective owners. The appearance of any restaurant name or brand identifier on the Platform does not transfer, assign, or grant any ownership interest in that name or brand to MenuMeat or to any user of the Platform.
MenuMeat makes no claim of ownership over any restaurant name, hospitality brand, franchise identifier, or associated intellectual property listed in any restaurant profile on the Platform.
4.2 Location Names and Geographic Identifiers City names, neighborhood names, district names, geographic identifiers, and place names referenced on MenuMeat are the common descriptors of real-world locations. They belong to the public domain or to their respective governing authorities and communities. MenuMeat uses location names solely for the purpose of organizing and presenting restaurant listings geographically. No proprietary claim is made over any location name or geographic identifier used on the Platform.
4.3 Menu Content Uploaded by Restaurants Menus, dish names, descriptions, and pricing information uploaded by restaurant owners or their authorized representatives remain the intellectual property of the restaurant or its owners, subject to any licensing arrangements that apply. By uploading menu content to MenuMeat, the uploader grants MenuMeat a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, reproduce, and distribute that content on the Platform for the purpose of providing the menu discovery service.
This license does not transfer ownership of the content. The restaurant retains full ownership of its menu, branding, and associated materials.
4.4 Photographs and Visual Content Photographs uploaded to MenuMeat by restaurant owners, staff, or diners must be original work owned by the uploader, or material for which the uploader holds a valid license to publish. By uploading photographs to the Platform, the uploader grants MenuMeat a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display that content on the relevant restaurant listing page.
MenuMeat does not claim ownership of uploaded photographs. Uploaders retain copyright in their original photographic work.
4.5 MenuMeat Platform Intellectual Property The MenuMeat name, logo, site design, user interface, original written content, and proprietary software are owned by MenuMeat and protected by applicable intellectual property law. Nothing in these Terms grants any user a license to use MenuMeat’s own branding, design assets, or platform code outside of normal use of the Platform.
5. USER ACCOUNTS
5.1 Account Creation Certain features of MenuMeat — including creating a restaurant listing, submitting a verified customer review, or claiming an existing restaurant page — require the creation of a user account. You agree to provide accurate, complete, and current information when registering and to keep that information updated.
5.2 Account Security You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. If you become aware of any unauthorized use of your account, you must notify MenuMeat promptly via the contact form on the Platform.
5.3 One Account Per User Each individual or business entity may maintain one active account on MenuMeat. The creation of multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions, manipulate review systems, or misrepresent the volume of customer activity is prohibited and may result in permanent suspension of all associated accounts.
5.4 Account Termination MenuMeat reserves the right to suspend or permanently terminate any account that violates these Terms, engages in fraudulent activity, submits false information, or otherwise causes harm to the Platform, to other users, or to restaurant businesses listed on the Platform.
6. USER-UPLOADED CONTENT — RULES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
6.1 Your Responsibility for Uploaded Content Any content you upload, submit, or publish on MenuMeat — including menus, dish descriptions, photographs, reviews, business information, or any other material — is your responsibility. By uploading content, you represent and warrant that:
— You own the content or hold all necessary rights and permissions to publish it on MenuMeat. — The content is accurate to the best of your knowledge at the time of submission. — The content does not infringe the intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or other legal rights of any third party. — The content does not violate any applicable law or regulation. — The content does not contain false, misleading, defamatory, or fraudulent information.
6.2 Menu Accuracy Restaurant owners and their authorized representatives who upload menu content to MenuMeat are responsible for ensuring that menu information — including dish names, descriptions, prices, and availability — is accurate and kept current. MenuMeat is not liable for any loss, disappointment, or dispute arising from outdated, incomplete, or incorrect menu information uploaded by a restaurant operator.
Diners who rely on menu information displayed on MenuMeat are advised to confirm current pricing and availability directly with the restaurant before visiting, particularly for time-sensitive items such as daily specials or seasonal menus.
6.3 Customer Reviews and Verified Experiences Users who submit customer reviews on MenuMeat confirm that the review reflects a genuine, personal dining experience at the named restaurant. Submitting a review for a restaurant you have not visited, submitting reviews on behalf of other people, submitting reviews in exchange for compensation, or submitting reviews intended to harm a competitor’s reputation are all prohibited and constitute grounds for immediate account suspension.
MenuMeat operates a verification process to distinguish genuine customer experiences from fraudulent submissions. The platform reserves the right to remove any review that fails verification standards or that is reported and found to violate these Terms, without prior notice to the submitter.
6.4 Prohibited Content The following types of content are prohibited on MenuMeat under all circumstances:
— Content that is defamatory, deliberately false, or maliciously misleading about a restaurant, business, or individual. — Content that infringes the trademark, copyright, or other intellectual property of any third party. — Content that contains personal attacks, harassment, or targeted abuse directed at restaurant staff, owners, or other users. — Content that contains personal data of individuals without their knowledge or consent. — Spam, duplicate submissions, or automated content generated for the purpose of manipulating the platform’s ranking or review systems. — Content that promotes illegal activity or that violates any applicable law.
MenuMeat reserves the right to remove prohibited content at any time and without prior notice.
6.5 Content Moderation MenuMeat does not review every piece of content uploaded to the Platform before it is published. The Platform relies on a combination of community reporting, automated detection, and periodic manual review to identify content that violates these Terms. If you encounter content that you believe violates these Terms, use the contact form to report it. We will investigate and take appropriate action.
7. RESTAURANT LISTINGS — SPECIFIC TERMS
7.1 Claiming a Listing If a restaurant listing exists on MenuMeat and you are the owner or authorized manager of that restaurant, you may claim the listing through the contact process described on the Platform. Claimed listings are subject to an ownership verification process. Until verification is complete, MenuMeat will not transfer editorial control of the listing.
7.2 Accuracy of Business Information Restaurant operators who manage a listing on MenuMeat are responsible for ensuring that all business information — including address, operating hours, contact details, menu content, and pricing — is accurate and current. MenuMeat is not responsible for errors in business information that result from failure to update a listing.
7.3 Listing Removal Restaurant operators may request removal of their listing from MenuMeat at any time by contacting us through the contact form. Removal requests from verified listing owners are processed within a reasonable timeframe. MenuMeat reserves the right to retain anonymized, non-identifying data from removed listings for platform analytics purposes.
7.4 Third-Party Listings Some restaurant listings on MenuMeat may have been created by diners or community members rather than by the restaurant itself. These listings are created in good faith for the purpose of sharing menu information. If you are a restaurant owner and wish to claim, correct, or remove a listing created by a third party, contact MenuMeat through the contact form. We will work with you to resolve the situation promptly.
8. DISCLAIMERS
8.1 Content Accuracy MenuMeat does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or currency of any content on the Platform. Menu prices, dish availability, operating hours, and restaurant details change frequently and without notice. Always verify information directly with the restaurant before making a dining decision based on content displayed on MenuMeat.
8.2 No Professional Advice Nothing on MenuMeat constitutes professional nutritional, dietary, allergen, or medical advice. Information about dishes and ingredients on the Platform is provided by restaurant operators and has not been independently verified. Diners with allergies, dietary restrictions, or medical conditions that are affected by food should always confirm ingredient and allergen information directly with the restaurant before ordering.
8.3 Third-Party Links MenuMeat may contain links to third-party websites, platforms, or services. These links are provided for convenience and do not constitute an endorsement of the linked content or service. MenuMeat has no control over third-party content and accepts no responsibility for it.
8.4 Service “As Is” The Platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. MenuMeat does not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.
9. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, MenuMeat and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Platform, including but not limited to:
— Reliance on inaccurate or outdated menu information uploaded by a restaurant or user. — A dining experience that did not meet expectations based on content viewed on the Platform. — Unauthorized access to or alteration of your uploaded content. — Loss of data resulting from Platform downtime or technical failure. — Any other matter relating to the Platform or its content.
This limitation applies regardless of whether MenuMeat has been advised of the possibility of such damages and regardless of the legal theory under which the claim is brought.
10. INDEMNIFICATION
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless MenuMeat and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses — including reasonable legal fees — arising out of or related to:
— Content you upload, submit, or publish on the Platform. — Your violation of these Terms. — Your violation of any third party’s rights, including intellectual property rights. — Any claim that your uploaded content caused damage to a third party.
11. PRIVACY
Your use of MenuMeat is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, store, and protect information about you. By using the Platform, you consent to the data practices described in our Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
12. GOVERNING LAW AND DISPUTES
12.1 Governing Law These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. MenuMeat operates as a United States-based platform and these Terms are intended to comply with US legal requirements. Users accessing the Platform from other jurisdictions do so at their own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws to the extent they apply.
12.2 Dispute Resolution In the event of any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Platform, the parties agree to first attempt resolution through good-faith communication. Disputes that cannot be resolved informally may be submitted to binding arbitration or resolved through a court of competent jurisdiction, depending on the nature and scope of the claim.
12.3 Limitation Period Any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the Platform must be brought within one year of the date on which the claim arose. Claims not brought within this period are permanently barred.
13. GENERAL PROVISIONS
13.1 Entire Agreement These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional policies referenced herein, constitute the entire agreement between you and MenuMeat with respect to your use of the Platform and supersede all prior agreements, understandings, and representations.
13.2 Severability If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable under applicable law, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or severed from these Terms if modification is not possible. The remaining provisions continue in full force and effect.
13.3 No Waiver MenuMeat’s failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. A waiver is only effective if made in writing and signed by an authorized representative of MenuMeat.
13.4 Assignment You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without MenuMeat’s prior written consent. MenuMeat may assign its rights and obligations under these Terms without restriction, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
13.5 Contact for Legal Matters For questions about these Terms, to report a potential violation, or to raise a legal concern, contact MenuMeat through the contact form on the Platform. Legal notices intended to have formal effect should reference “Legal Notice — Terms of Service” in the subject or reason field.
These Terms of Service were written to be read and understood, not to obscure your rights or MenuMeat’s responsibilities. If any section is unclear, reach out through the contact page. We will explain it plainly.
